Thank you to Global Santa Fe’s members and friends for joining us for our Annual Gala on May 18 – a full house, a riveting guest speaker, the launch of our new brand, and the celebration of our awardees!

You can also listen to the KSFR Interview with Ambassador Yovanovitch, watch her KOAT-TV interview, and read the post-Gala article in the Santa Fe New Mexican.

While she was in Santa Fe, Ambassador Yovanovitch told students at Capital High School that now is the time to consider a career in diplomacy. She believes young people are full of idealism and ideas and that, no matter the challenges, she sees a “whole generation coming up that is ready to address them.”

Global Santa Fe Student Fellow Amelia Clark told Gala guests that her fellowship experience made her “more confident in how we can make a difference in the world as global citizens.”

In his remarks at the Gala, Santa Fe Mayor Alan Webber lifted up Global Santa Fe’s work and the timing of our event as an “inflection point.” He told us: “We are confronting again an old, hard lesson: We have to think the unthinkable, because the unimaginable is happening. We are witnessing more than an attack on Ukraine. We are witnessing attacks on truth, on facts, on fundamental values—on reality itself.” Read the Mayor’s complete remarks here.

During the Gala, Global Santa Fe also paid tribute to a select group of dedicated people who have worked tirelessly to help connect New Mexicans with the world:

●     Dialogue & Diplomacy Award – Jim Falk, Global Santa Fe Board Member and former Interim Executive Director, for significantly enhancing programming by recruiting marquee speakers who imparted knowledge and gave context to current and emerging global issues.

●     Cultural Exchange Award – Somos un Pueblo Unido, for their crucial work in promoting immigrants’ rights in New Mexico, as well as the group’s rich history of participating in Global Santa Fe’s International Visitor Leadership Program. To learn more about this organization, click HERE

●     Student Engagement Award – Amy Page, social studies teacher at Moriarty High School, for serving as an advocate for rural schools and a champion in consistently delivering Global Santa Fe’s education programs to Moriarty students.
