T. Scott Bunton

Board Member

Scott completed his U.S. government career in 2009 as Executive Director of a Congressional commission on China. Previously, as a Senior Executive Service member, he served as Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce, the COO of the bureau administering dual use export controls, and concurrently directed its nonproliferation export and transit control assistance program for the new democracies of central Europe and the former Soviet Union. In 2002 Bunton was assigned to the President’s transition team for the new Department of Homeland Security and developed the initial $1 billion annual budget for one its five divisions.  After retiring from government in 2009, Bunton worked as Executive Vice President of a large nonpartisan research and advocacy organization in Washington. He and his wife Linda retired and moved to Santa Fe in 2015, where he now serves on the board of directors of the Food Depot (northern New Mexico’s food bank), was appointed by the city council to the City’s water conservation advisory committee, and intermittently consults in the Middle East for a State Department nonproliferation border control program.
