Global Citizen Summit
Promoting The Highest Levels Of Connectedness
Our Global Citizens Summit is for critical thinkers who seek to understand how the world works, value diversity and multiple perspectives, are troubled by social injustice, feel an ethical responsibility to other individuals and cultures around the globe, and are willing to act to make the world a more equitable and sustainable place.
In 2018, we hosted our first Global Citizen Summit, bringing a variety of performers to St. John’s College to celebrate our individual and collective global identities.
Developed entirely by our High School Fellows, our 2021 Global Citizen Summit highlighted pressing issues around the world for today’s youth – and the centrality of the next generation taking an active role in our interwoven global society. This meeting unfolded over four live streams. Our Fellows introduced and moderated all sessions, leading discussions on critical global topics such as child marriage in Yemen and youth protests in Chile.
2022’s Global Citizen Summit explored topics of Global Education and Global Food Systems, with another livestream series organized by our Fellows. Talks covered issues of girls’ education in Afghanistan, Russian influences on Mongolian education, the avocado supply chain’s relationship with the cartel in Mexico, and child labor in the West African cocoa industry.
