Zella Cox

Zella Kay Cox, served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Director of the Administrative Services Division of New Mexico’s General Services Department, having been appointed to the position by the Governor in August 2014. Prior to that, Zella served almost 14 years as the Program Manager for Municipal Court Automation for the NM Supreme Court as part of the Administrative Office of the Court’s Judicial Information Division. Zella’s background is in finance, law, management, and computer technology. She came to New Mexico in 1996 from Chicago, where she was the CFO for a multi-office national law firm. Over her 25-year career, Zella has managed corporate law departments as well as private law firms, developed computer applications for litigation support, served as a commercial lending officer for a large financial institution, and been involved in a number of initiatives for staff development, process improvement, and quality management. Zella has served on numerous not-for-profit boards and continues to provide expertise in the areas of improving financial as well as operational performance. Zella has been committed to giving back to her community through volunteer activities, including recording books for the blind, mentoring elementary school students, cataloging musical scores for the Santa Fe Opera, constructing houses for Habitat for Humanity, as well as volunteer work for the NM Museum of International Folk Art and the Santa Fe National Forest.
