Zella Cox

Zella Kay Cox served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Director of the Administrative Services Division of New Mexico’s General Services Department, a position she was appointed to by the Governor in August 2014. Before that, she spent nearly 14 years as Program Manager for Municipal Court Automation for the New Mexico Supreme Court, working within the Administrative Office of the Court’s Judicial Information Division.
Zella’s professional background spans finance, law, management, and computer technology. She moved to New Mexico in 1996 from Chicago, where she was the CFO of a multi-office national law firm. Over her 25-year career, Zella has managed corporate law departments and private law firms, developed computer applications for litigation support, served as a commercial lending officer for a large financial institution, and spearheaded initiatives in staff development, process improvement, and quality management.
In addition to her professional achievements, Zella has been active in nonprofit organizations, offering her expertise to improve financial and operational performance. She is also deeply committed to community service. Her volunteer activities include recording books for the blind, mentoring elementary school students, cataloging musical scores for the Santa Fe Opera, constructing houses for Habitat for Humanity, and supporting the New Mexico Museum of International Folk Art and the Santa Fe National Forest.
